The short version
- 📱Your data lives on your phone. Dawnli stores every mood entry, note, photo, tag, and preference in a local SQLite database on your device. We do not operate a server that holds your data.
- 🌐Dawnli works without the internet. Logging moods, viewing history, charts, calendar, and insights all work completely offline.
- 🔍We cannot see your entries. We have no account system and no cloud database. Because the data never leaves your device, we literally have no way to access it.
- 🚫No tracking, no ads, no selling data. Dawnli contains no analytics SDKs that profile users, no advertising networks, and no third-party trackers in the app.
- 🔐Optional extras are opt-in. Premium features like cloud backup and in-app purchases use third-party providers (Apple, Google, RevenueCat). They only activate if you choose them.
1. Who we are
Dawnli ("we", "us", "the app") is a mood tracker and micro-journal for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains what data Dawnli handles, where it lives, and the limited ways third-party services may be involved.
Our design philosophy is simple: your emotional data is deeply personal, so it should stay on your device by default.
2. What Dawnli stores on your device
The following data is created by you and saved only in the local SQLite database on your phone:
- Mood entries - timestamp, mood level (Radiant, Good, Neutral, Low, Rough), optional note text (up to 333 characters on Free, unlimited on Premium), and an optional photo reference.
- Activity tags - the preloaded tags you select, plus any custom tags you create (up to 5 on Free, up to 20 on Premium).
- Preferences - your first name, selected theme, selected font, reminder times, biometric / PIN lock setting, haptics setting, and onboarding status.
- Streak and statistics - calculated on-device from your entries.
None of the above is transmitted to a Dawnli server, because Dawnli has no server.
3. What we do NOT collect
- No email, phone number, or account credentials - Dawnli has no sign-up.
- No location data, contacts, calendar, or health data.
- No advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking.
- No device fingerprinting for analytics purposes.
4. Permissions Dawnli may request
Dawnli only asks for permissions when a feature you use needs them:
- Photo library - only if you attach a photo to a mood entry. The photo reference stays on your device.
- Notifications - only if you enable reminders. All reminders are scheduled locally on your device; no push server is used.
- Face ID / Touch ID / biometrics - only if you turn on App Lock. Biometric checks happen entirely on-device via the operating system.
5. Third-party services
5.1 RevenueCat (payments)
If you purchase a Premium subscription or Lifetime plan, we use RevenueCat to process and verify the purchase. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous app user ID and the Apple / Google transaction receipt. We do not send your entries, notes, or any journaling content to RevenueCat.
5.2 Apple App Store and Google Play
In-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. Dawnli does not see your payment details.
5.3 Optional cloud backup (Premium)
Premium users can enable backup to iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android). If enabled, an encrypted copy of your Dawnli database is written to your personal cloud account under your control. Dawnli has no access to these backups. You can disable or delete the backup at any time in Settings or from your cloud provider.
5.4 Fonts
Dawnli bundles fonts at build time from Google Fonts. At runtime, the app does not fetch fonts over the network, so there is no Google Fonts tracking in-app.
6. Children
Dawnli is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. Because the app does not create accounts or collect personal information, no such data exists on our side.
7. Your rights and controls
- Access and export - Premium users can export all mood entries as CSV or JSON from Settings → Data → Export. Your data is always yours.
- Deletion - You can delete individual entries in the app. Uninstalling Dawnli deletes the local database and all entries on that device. If you have cloud backup enabled, remove the backup file from your iCloud / Google Drive account to erase it fully.
- Restore purchases - Use "Restore purchases" on the Paywall screen to recover your Premium entitlement on a new device.
8. Security
Because your entries never leave your device by default, the primary layer of security is your phone itself. We recommend enabling Dawnli's App Lock (biometric or PIN) and your device's screen lock. Optional cloud backups use your cloud provider's own encryption.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where reasonable, show a notice in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Questions?
If anything here is unclear, reach out via the Support link in the app. Because we have no account system, please don't send us your entries or personal data - we don't need them to help.
